Requirements: The coins need to be 1/10 ounce, and not gold U.S. eagles. And please do not send us any coins until after you have contacted us. But can be any metal (gold, silver, platinum, palladium, even copper), in almost any quantity (as few as 1, or as many as 1,000 or more). They can be true coins (minted by a country, with a denomination) or medals (privately minted).
Payment: We will work out a price via E-mail, after which you will send the coins. Once we receive the coins, we will immediately send you payment. There is no need to send the coins before finding out the price (that's just silly!). Note that the price is highly dependent upon the "spot" price of the metal, so if you do not send the coin(s) on the day you receive the quote, the price may be adjusted accordingly.
Prices: The aim is to offer you about the wholesale value of the coins. Since many of these coins do not have their prices tracked, that gets tricky. Unless the coin(s) are common, the price would almost certainly be at least slightly over the spot price.
Why sell through us?: The two most common options are to sell to a coin dealer (or jewelry store or pawnbroker), or to sell on eBay. A coin dealer will likely only pay around the spot price, since it is unlikely any of his customers will be interested in the coin, and he will probably have to sell it to another dealer. eBay works well for some people, but they take about 7% in fees (between the listing fees and PayPal fees), and you occasionally may have to deal with strange requests, overseas bidders, etc. Sometimes you get lucky and get more than the coin is worth, sometimes you get unlucky and get less than spot for it.
If you have some of these less common coins, whether it is 1 or 1,000, please contact us (we will get back to you quickly)! We can probably locate someone who would be interested, and we can act as the "middleman" at no cost to you (so you send the coins to us, and we send you payment for them, so you can deal with a trusted website rather than a third party). And, you'll know that the coins are going to a collector, and won't end up melted. For quantities of coins, some collectors like to have extras on hand to trade or sell later when they find new coins that they want.
[For common 1/10 ounce coins, such as BU gold eagles, BU Australian Kangaroos (Nuggets), your local coin dealer may be your best bet, as we wouldn't be able to offer more than the spot price for those.]
